Who Are We?
Bareedo Platform Somalia is a non-governmental and non-profit youth-led organization founded in 2015 and based in Somalia. Bareedo Platform, a fully registered non-governmental organization under the NGO Act 2016 of the state of Puntland in Somalia, serves the entire country. Our work spans the promotion of participatory democracy, open government, digital rights, and civil society building to promote Somali people’s engagement in the public decision-making process as an essential step toward achieving a democratic, peaceful, and prosperous Somalia.

Bareedo Platform promotes the democratization process in Somalia by building inclusive, transparent, and accountable governance systems that contribute directly to the achievement of a country that ensures democracy, peace, justice, freedom, and sustainability for all.

Bareedo Platform promotes the agency of citizens by strengthening their leadership and civic capacity to influence the decision-making process and exercise their role as responsible citizens in the country.

Bareedo Platform advocates for and supports the Somali government authorities in adoption of open government principles, such as open data, open budget, and open procurement, through the use of modern, open technologies to address the widespread corruption, mismanagement, lack of transparency, accountability, and citizen engagement that have resulted from a culture of secrecy and limited public access to open data.

Bareedo Platform promotes digital rights and leverage technology for civic engagement, transparency, and community-driven initiatives to facilitate inclusive public decision-making and strengthen democratic governance in Somalia.
